Thom Minczeski, The Photoman, Biography
A professional photographer in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area for over twenty-fiveyears, Tom Minczeski is as passionate about photography today as he was when he began his career as a wedding photographer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, shortly after graduating from Marquette University.
Photojournalistic and business portraits of his have been published in Time, The Chicago Tribune, numerous magazines for Fairchild Publications (now Capital Cities Media), The Bay Area Business Executive, West County Newspapers, San Francisco Bride, and other regional publications in addition to web-sites, annual reports and brochures for various Fortune 500 companies including The Gap, CP National, and USS/POSCO. He has photographed products for such diverse companies as Longs Drugs, Clorox, Impact Merchandising, Peets Coffee & Tea, Sierra Designs, Mountain Hardwear, Galaxy Brands, and Wildpackets to name a few. His commercial photography has earned American Advertising Federation (AAF) Addy Awards. In 2002, he was awarded the prestigious AAF Silver Medal Award, the highest honor a local AAF affiliate can bestow on one of its own.
Exhibitions of his fine art black and white landscape photography have been held at the Wrubel Gallery, The Nature Company, Black Swan Books, The Alameda Historical Museum Gallery, Alpha Photographics, and Cantoo Photographic. His landscape photographs, particularly his Yosemite studies, are highly prized by local collectors and admired by many who have compared them favorably to those of Ansel Adams.
